i love this place!! though i always thought it was a more local chinese hangout, hardly ever see foreigners here. there’s another location near 北新桥 that always has seats but not as much atmosphere as the gulou locations.

also, try the baked garlic-onion baked half-shell scallops (蒜蓉扇贝) if you haven’t yet. wings are good, but these are to die for.

Even they remarked that they hadnt had a show with that kind of energy since early 90’s Germany. PE / NIN / Cui Jian were also top notch – and let me throw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs into the conversation as well…

Interesting post – ‘that dumbass’ (whom I still love dearly) opening her mouth on Tibet did fuck a lot up – and it has certainly been interesting watching the fallout….
