Beijing quickslants: Folk, bookswap, sambafest and geek is sexy! busy weekend ahead
Thinking about rewriting the side note of the blog to take away my “other interests” at this point… seems like it’s been music and music all along over the past few weeks and it’s not even over yet! This weekend we got yet another festival to contend with: Ditan Folk fest which should be loads of fun! I went there last year and it was definitely cool to spend an afternoon in the park listening to mellow folksy sounds.
Thursday May 6:
Eva Ruiz @ Yugong Yishan: French Songstress that could be fun to watch! She’s on the rocky side with good rhymes and playful songs that I’m definitely interested in. Ding Ke, space pop princess, opens the gig! I’ll get there for Olivia
Friday May 7:
80s night @ Alfa: How about a break from the music and doing some dancing instead? one of the oldest standing events in Beijing relaunches this friday! This is still one of my favorite dancing spots in this town.
The Amazing Insurance Salesmen @ Old What Bar: Cool experimental rock with some of the better musicians in Beijing just on the side of Tian An Men Square.. Old What bar has got one of the strangest location in the city.. great venue for intimate shows!
