If I don’t meet you no more in this world then I’ll meet ya on the next one
R.I.P. Voodoo Child
40 years ago today the world lost quite possibly the most influential electric guitarist ever. James Marshall Hendrix, known to fans as Jimi, passed away in the early hours on the morning on September 18, 1970. He died 10 years before I was born, yet I still consider him in a whole different league from any guitarist of my generation.
My Dad was a Hendrix fan, so I was brought listening to old worn out tapes of Live at Woodstock and Electric Ladyland, on childhood roadtrips. Today my iTunes is set to Jimi, Red House, Hey Joe, All Along the Watchtower, Foxy Lady … so many awesome songs!
In honor of the great man, tonite Club 13 will host local tribute band Purple Smog. I’ve seen these boys play twice now, but will sadly be missing their final gig (GBoB calls!)
If you love good psychedelic riffs, wah-wah pedals, and iconic songs, get out to Wudaokou and join the celebration of the life of a true guitar hero.
Here’s a little taste of Purple Smog at 2 Kolegas at couple of weeks ago just to get you in the mood!
