Painkiller Grows up and Throws a Party with Cannibal Corpse

man time flies… Painkiller Mag, purveyor and defender of all things Metal in China is turning 12 already! I think in magazine years, that’s the equivalent to turning 120 but it’s still fit nimble and got plenty of attitude. To celebrate the occasion in style, the guys went out and got themselves some metal heavyweights to come in and shake things up:

    12th Anniversary Painkiller Fest 2012

    Painkiller Magazine proudly presents:

    2012.10.12 Shanghai UNEARTH
    2012.10.20 Beijing CANNIBAL CORPSE
    2012.11.11 Beijing DARK FUNERAL

Look for venue details and cost to be announced soon!
I’m looking forward to this one.. I saw CC once before in Toledo, Ohio circa 1996 with Pantera and Napalm Death on the same bill and I’m not sure my ears or my brain ever recovered from that one.
look for me in the pit 666

I still find it highly amusing that a band like cannibal corpse can play in beijing right at the same time as the changing of the guards in the people’s hall. I don’t know how they do it, but kudos to painkiller for pulling it off…

The band has played it safe since day 1: No songs about politics or religion! No worries for the changeover problems or inciting riots me thinks. I don’t think the party cares about a band that sings about sodomy as long as it’s not related to them
but yeah, kudos to painkiller for this one! Now I wanna see them bring Morbid Angel to town

thanks guys, we will see how it works. Hope all goes well. It’s always risky to bring any kind of western bands at this point, since we missed CC last time and now they can make it, it’s at least worth the risk.

As for Morbid Angel, well there was once a change to bring them onto Midi Festival, but in the end it didnt work out schedule-wise due to their tour planning. Well, there is always a next time.
