MIDI 2012: Welcome Back Home.. to Haidian

It’s been a while coming but finally it’s here: MIDI have announced officially their 2012 Beijing Edition: April 29 to May 1st 2012 at… Haidian Park; Yes, MIDI is coming back home!
It’s been a frustrating few months for the folks in charge trying to get things set up and organized in light on their cross-town rival stealing the spotlight and signing up pretty much all the major Chinese acts. Still, my favorite yearly music shindig is back in business proper and I’m pretty sure the world of Yaogun is better for it.

The major acts are still a bit of a mystery but for now, there are a few confirmations of bands we like: Mos Def, The Amazing Insurance Salesmen, Jacky Danny, The Power Powder, S.A.W and a slew or mid-major names.Amongst the foreign acts we can find France’s La Souris Deglingee, Arcane Saints, The Backyard surgeons and a few more… somewhat underwhelming but nevertheless interesting.

Last year, MIDI carried the mantle of the moon bear. This year, their picking up the battle of awareness against pollution. I love what they do and their efforts… I just wished they picked up their game a bit more!
