Quickslants: New Buyi & Illness Sickness out, 5 Years of AJK, Behemoth & more..

The computer gods have cursed me! i had some quickslants all ready to go then ended up losing them last night. So instead of the usual elaborate ones, these are gonna be on the short side! Tons of good gigs and some more album releases with tonight’s BUYI gig being my must-see show of the weekend.

Friday October 18th.

Buyi @ Mako
BUyi returns to Beijing with a new record. I have not even heard it yet and had no idea it was happening until a few weeks ago. It’s only fitting for one of the hardest working bands in the mainland to keep up their release stream with yet a new record. I’m gonna be there and i’m gonna be shouting out loud when they get to Luoma Biao.

Stones Tribute @ Yugong Yishan
Four Beijing bands share their love of The Rolling Stones in a tribute show to mark the release of ‘GRRR!’, a greatest hits album by The Rolling Stones to coincide with the band’s 50th anniversary, which features two brand new tracks ‘Gloom And Doom’ and ‘One Last Shot’ recorded in Paris. Entry includes a copy of the 3CD album! Featuring Casino DEmon, Brain Failure, Mr. Graceless and Skip Skip Ben Ben

Saturday October 19th

Army of Jade Kirin @ Mao
7 years of AJK.. not bad at all. This is one of the more underrated acts in the underground music scene. Decent hard rock/metal and a good following. They put on show! I still think that sometimes, they might be better served if the frontman was meaner… still solid young band and solid metal.

Illness Sickness & Residence A @ 2 Kolegas
2 of my favourite young bands in the city. Both dazefeast alums and both can blow the roof off any venue.
This is one of 3 shows illness sickness is playing in Beijing in support of their debut EP to be launched at MAo sunday night. I’m sure saturday will be a lot more intimate in the drive thru.

Sunday October 20th

Monday October 21st

Behemoth @ Yugong Yishan
The metal monsters descend on the city for a violence appointment. They are one of the biggest names in the field and you can be sure they’re gonna put on a show. \m/\m/
